Monday Morning
24" x 32", acrylic, 2004

This is how I feel when I wake up on a Monday morning. I feel as if my head spent the entire night in the refrigerator. It is still asleep and I need to put it back on my headless body for it to warm up and come back to life.

This painting has a morbid feel to it, but my intention was to express in a surreal way my state of mind and body when I wake up in the morning. As you get older, it seems much more difficult for your body to recuperate the morning after a night of indiscipline. And what's worst than waking up on a Monday morning.
