This is a woman's fear of being pursued by someone or something. The elephant represents the male pursuer and she is trying to hide behind a wall. Her androgynous appearance is a subconscious will to be less appealing to the male pursuer and discourage him. The tension is evident here.

Sophie is an exciting person to paint. Her slightly chiseled features, soft skin, and exquisitely shaped lips are pure eroticism. Any painted rendition of her does not do her justice.
